Rachel Amado, San Diego, CA. Professional Dog Trainer and columnist. Rachel has over 30 years of experience training, handling, showing, and living with various breeds of dogs. Rachel is an active member of two local Obedience clubs as well as the American Whippet Club and the Border Collie Society of America. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Whippet Health Foundation. Rachel is a certified AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator

Nancy Volin of Pampered Pet Treats had this to say about Rachel on the Home Shopping Network with regard to Rachel's work and new publication called "101 Pet Training Tips":

Rachel is a talented dog trainer and competitor, but I think her real contribution is her ability to work with people!

She has natural leadership qualities which the dogs respond to with love and respect. But her insights into the human members of the team really set her apart from other dog trainers. She can read what’s going on with people and find the best way for them to communicate with their canine partners.

She’s passionate about helping dogs find their “forever” homes and keeping them out of shelters. That really means helping their owners teach them to become valuable family members. Best of all, she does it with love and positive, playful training methods.

Howdy! I'm Maverick, The Traveling Whippet. I go lots of places with my Mom, Rachel, who loves to train dogs. I like to write about our adventures and hope you enjoy reading them. Sometimes they're educational, but sometimes they're just fun.
